My City of Liverpool
I thought that the best city to write about for my first post would be the city I know best, my hometown of Liverpool.
Liverpool is situated in the north-west of England, it is a major UK port. During World War 2 it was the arrival port of US and Canadian soldiers etc. The cruise liner Titanic had it's port of registry here. Liverpool was once a major ship-building city.
In 2007 it celebrated it's 800th birthday. It was given City-status by King John in 1207. In 2008 it was the European Capital of Culture.
It has many famous landmarks, it's waterfront view is one that rivals New York's. The waterfront used to be a UN World Heritage Site!!

There are many museums, art galleries as well as places of historical and cultural importance in Liverpool. There are two large cathedrals and many public parks.
It has a strong sporting history, with 2 big soccer teams situated here (Everton FC and Liverpool FC). It also has a big history in terms of music, The Beatles came from here amongst many other famous singers and bands. Singers and groups from here have produced more number 1 hit singles, one of many reasons why I'm glad to be a Liverpudlian or "Scouser" as our nickname is..

There are many restaurants, cafes and bars in and around the city centre and across the city. Each having it’s own style and cuisine, wether you like hot and spicy food, street food, mild spicy food or food from different countries you’ll find something for your palette. As well as various fast food places and takeaway shops..
The first photo is of Church Street; the second is of Liverpool One shopping area ; the third is of the MetQuarter building on Williamson Square.
There are many shopping areas to visit, from Bold Street to Church Street and Lord Street to Liverpool One and the MetQuarter. You’ll find clothes no matter your style and budget. The Royal Albert Dock is another place to visit, which has more bars, restaurants to visit as well as more shops and the Tate Gallery if you like looking at Artworks.
